The port and seaside town of St Ives is situated in the Penwith district of West Cornwall in England, UK. The main industry used to be fishing, but this has now shifted to tourism, and the town is a popular holiday resort.
It is home to many art shops, artists and most notably, the Tate St Ives Gallery and the Barbara Hepworth Museum. Some scientists and artists attribute this to the unique light that is reflected from the sea, sand, and the cliffs and hillsides that surround the bay.
St Ives is an extremely popular for New Year’s celebrations and there are four regular festivals held in the town:
St Ives May Day
The Knell Festival (every five years on 25th July)
St Ives September Festival (Arts and Culture – Music, Literature, Poetry, Film, Spoken Word).
St Ives Feast (the nearest Sunday and Monday to 3rd February).
